On Friday, 18 October, a hardy group of excursioners braved the Melbourne weather to visit the Metro Tunnel HQ at 125 – 133 Swanston Street (Opposite Melbourne Town Hall).

A very informative session, led by Metro Tunnel staff, let us into the secrets of what has been happening with the Metro Tunnel development deep below our city. There were lots of video displays previewing the new stations at Arden, Parkville, State Library, Town Hall and Anzac and even VR headsets to try out together with footage of the breakthrough when the tunnel boring machine made its final cut.

Information about the new 7 carriage trains, signalling systems and greater capacity of the new line gave us an insight into what is in store.
